It seems its going to take more than community support, for Rosebud trader Ian Macca Macdonald to avoid being stomped on by corporate bullies. Maybe a community boycott of a certain fast food may help persuade them from their course.
After all guys its about consumer choice, and I know what I would rather have scotch fillet burger.
Mr Macdonald, who runs Macdonald's Gourmet Burgers in Pt Nepean Rd, Rosebud, has received court orders over claims he is in breach of the Trade Marks Act.
Personally I think too many small business have been victims of big business moving into the community. How many have noticed the demise of the local hardware store over the last 10 years, as an example that comes to mind.
Anyway check out Maccas menu and make up your own mind.

I'd love to know which burger they are claiming is substantially the same!
whether that corporate giant has a role or not in our society, one has to start questioning the "right" to own a name and any variation of it.
corporate bullying of anything that is a threat is a problem, and our legal system is way too expensive and inefficient to cope with it. unless you have time and independent means on your hands, you can't afford to take them on.
I know of another example where an Australian grocery retailer CEO was cited as" going to appeal every decision until they get the right one" on a restraint of trade case of a former employee knowing that the employee would never have as much money to throw at it as the company did. CHARMING!
your burgers look delicious - i found them through another blog's post, and whilst the idea of a haggis burger sounds revolting to me, i will definitely be in for a uno hooz on my next trip to your area (I am in Sydney so don't hold your breath.
